It’s all the rage to use really long, descriptive titles for everything — from blog posts to song titles.

I was sad to go because my project was so much fun but a whole lot of new excitement awaits me as a graduate student. I’ll be taking Computer Security taught by David Wagner and Security and Privacy Enhancing Technologies taught by Dawn Song. I am totally stoked about the course content and I hope to use my project at ICIR for my class projects.
During my last week there, Phil and Megan decided to visit me. Phil and I went climbing at Iron Works a few times and then Steve, Emily, Megan, Phil and I went climbing at Castle Rock. We did some routes from 10b-11b and also did some bouldering. It was a fun trip and despite the fact we had a guide book, we still didn’t manage to find and climb as many routes as we wanted. I am sure we’ll head back soon with another couple of experienced climbers.
We also dropped a few hundred dollars on wine and food(eep!) when we went to Lalime’s Restaurant in Berkeley. Despite the pricey menu, the portions were larger than expected and the food quality was exquisite. After dinner, we headed to Shattuck Down Low which on this particular Thursday evening had a less than classy clientèle. In fact, the bartender tried to overcharge us for drinks and after arguing with him acquiesced to honoring the 2 for $5 price given on the website, we each received two very watered down, terrible tasting drinks. Yuck. After some incredible, dance floor clearing dance moves by me and Phil (we looked like awesome idiots), a larger woman approached me while I was getting water from the water cooler. She proceeded to entice me into dancing with her by taking my cup of water out of my hand and dumping it down her shirt. Needless to say, it was time to leave.
During their stay we also managed to check out China Beach which was a secluded, nearly hidden beach near the Golden Gate. You can check out the beach, climbing, and Phil and Megan’s general stay photos in the pictures section. But, you can find a few random pictures that I particularly liked below!

This summer has been incredible — between Parisa visiting to go climbing with me all the time, Chris traveling cross country to hang out and camp, seeing all of my UIUC friends at Defcon, my parents moving to LA and visiting, Phil and Megan flying here to deal with me for a whole week, I couldn’t have hoped for a better summer.
I break my life into eras. One ends, another starts anew.

You should have thrown your drinks in the bartender’s face!! Or maybe given it to the buxom seductress to figure out what to do with…
